安芸市の伝統的祭り Traditional festival in Aki

一の宮神社 神祭 （安芸市井ノ口） Ichinomiya shrine festival
三菱財閥の創始者・岩崎弥太郎が生まれ育った地域にある神社。狛犬は、弥太郎が寄贈したものなのだとか。地域の子どもたちが出店に集まるアットホームなお祭りです。
This shrine is located in the area where Yataro Iwasaki, the founder of the Mitsubishi company, was born and raised. It is said that the komainu (guardian lion-dogs) were donated by Yataro himself. It’s a cozy, community-oriented festival where local children gather around the night markets.

奈比賀天満宮 神祭（安芸市奈比賀） Nabika Tenmangu shrine festival
奈比賀天満宮から約400メートル西にある星神社へ続く道沿いに約80帳の絵馬灯籠が並びます。あたりが闇に包まれた頃が、灯籠が幻想的に見えておすすめです。
About 80 ema lanterns line the path leading to Hoshi Shrine, located about 400 meters west of Nabiga Tenmangu Shrine. It’s best to visit when darkness falls, as the lanterns take on a magical atmosphere.

石神神社 神祭（安芸市井ノ口） Ishigami shrine festival
井ノ口地域にある小さな神社で年に1度開催されるお祭り。この時期は境内にあじさいが咲き、神社とあじさいのコンストラストが美しく、まさに”安芸のあじさい神社”。お祭りでは、古くから伝わる歌舞伎を題材にした絵馬灯籠や出店が楽しめます。
A festival held once a year at a small shrine in the Inokuchi area. During this season, hydrangeas bloom on the shrine grounds, creating a beautiful contrast between the shrine and the flowers.At the festival, visitors can enjoy ema lanterns painted with scenes from traditional Kabuki plays, as well as the night market.

杉尾神社 宵祭（安芸市土居）Sugio shrine festival
土佐藩家老・五藤家が邸宅を構えた土居廓中の近くにある神社のお祭り。宵祭では出店が並び、地元の子供達で賑わいます。翌日は神事が行われます。
This festival is held at a shrine near the Doi Kaku-chū, where the Goto family—senior retainers of the Tosa Domain—once had their residence. On the eve of the festival, Night markets line the streets, and the area buzzes with local children. A Shinto ritual is performed the following day.

八坂神社 神祭（安芸市川北）Yasaka shrine festival
江戸時代から残る大クスが御神木の神社。絵馬灯籠の装飾は、2017年に約30年ぶりに復活。地域の方々が伝統を守って見られる幻想的な絵馬灯籠をぜひ見にお出かけください。
A large camphor tree dating back to the Edo period serves as the shrine’s sacred tree. Visitors can enjoy the traditional ema lanterns that have been preserved by the local community.

西八幡宮 神祭（安芸市西浜）Nishi-hachimangu shrine festival
戦国武将・安芸国虎ゆかり西八幡宮。かつては神社の参道から本街商店街まで出店が並んで賑やかだったといいますが、今は神社の前に出店が並ぶのみの小さな規模になっています。

安芸本町商店街にある土佐藩家老・五藤家ゆかりの神社。神社内に出店が並びます。
This shrine, located in the Aki-Honmachi Shopping street, is associated with the Goto family, who served as senior retainers of the Tosa Domain. You can enjoy a night market on the shrine grounds.

コロナを機に存続が危ぶまれていた獅子舞が、保存会の活動により劇的に復活。伝統を引き継ぐ子どもたちが獅子舞を舞います。てがい子と獅子舞のユーモア溢れる掛け合いと、獅子舞の迫力をぜひ楽しんで。
The Akano shisimai lion dance, whose future had been in jeopardy due to the pandemic, has made a dramatic comeback thanks to the efforts of the preservation association. Children carrying on the tradition will perform the lion dance. Be sure to enjoy the humorous banter between the Tegaiko and the lion dance, as well as the thrilling energy of the performance.

昼神祭 Day time festival
12:00頃に大元神社から神輿が出発し、地域内を練り歩きながら海辺の住吉神社へ。海岸で獅子舞が奉納されます。
Around 12:00, the mikoshi（portable shrine） will depart from the Omoto Shrine and make its way through the neighborhood to Sumiyoshi Shrine by the seaside. A lion dance will be performed on the beach.

よさこい祭 in 安芸 Aki yosakoi dance festival
毎年第1土日に開催される夏祭り。1日目は、7会場で地元チームや市外からの有名チームが踊りを披露。ビアガーデンのある会場もあり、踊りをみながら夏を満喫できます。
This summer festival is held on the first Saturday and Sunday of every year. On the first day, local teams and well-known teams from outside the city perform dances at seven venues. Some venues feature beer gardens, so you can enjoy the summer to the fullest while watching the dances.

よさこいfainal-&花火大会 Aki yosakoi dance festival and fireworks
よさこいチームの賞が決まる日。会場の元気館にはたくさんの出店が並んで夏祭り気分が高まります。最後は、みんなのお楽しみの花火大会。安芸の花火は、海花火。広い砂浜で、席どりも必要なく、砂浜に座りながら、間近で打ち上げ花火と水上花火が楽しめます。
The awards for the Yosakoi teams will be announced. The venue will be lined with many night markets. The event will conclude with a fireworks display. You can sit on the beach and enjoy both aerial and water fireworks up close.

絵金祭（香南市赤岡）Ekin festival
幕末の絵師金蔵、絵金の本物の芝居絵屏風を商店街の軒先に並びます。日没後に蝋燭に灯りがつけば妖艶な雰囲気に辺りが包まれます。地元の人が演じる本格的な絵金歌舞伎も必見。
Authentic Kabuki-themed folding screens painted by Ekin, an artist from the late Edo period, are displayed along the shopping street. After sunset, when the candles are lit, the area is enveloped in a spooky atmosphere. The authentic Ekin Kabuki performances by local pepple are also a must-see.

9日（日）
前夜祭では、昨年受賞チームが演舞を披露。鏡川沿いで花火が楽しめます。
高知市内は宿も含めて混雑するの、東風ノ家に泊まって列車で行くのがおすすめ。
At the pre-festival celebration, last year’s winning team will perform a dance. You can enjoy fireworks along the Kagami River.
Since Kochi City gets crowded—including the hotels—we recommend staying at our hostel and taking the train there.
8月10日（月）・11日（火・祝）・12日（水） Kochi yosakoi dance festival main event
10日・11日はよさこい祭り本祭。高知市中心市街地にある会場で、約190チームの踊り子が演舞を披露。11日に受賞チームが決まり、後夜祭で演舞を披露。12日は全国大会もあります。
At a venue in downtown Kochi City, around 190 teams of dancers performed. The winning teams were announced on the 11th, and they performed again at the after-festival on the 12th. The national competition is also held on the last day.

香南市手結盆踊り&花火大会 Konan city Tei Bon odri tradithional dance festival
約400年の歴史を持つ盆踊り。すべて口伝えで継承され、古来のままの演目が伝わっています。灯籠流しの後、盆踊りが披露され、その後花火大会。水上花火が見事です。
This Bon dance has a history of about 400 years. It has been passed down entirely by word of mouth, and the traditional routines have been preserved in their original form. After the lantern floating ceremony, the Bon dance is performed, followed by a fireworks display. The fireworks over the water are beautiful.

奈半利町港まつり Nahari summer festival
漁船パレードやよさこい踊りなどが楽しめます。夜は、浜辺から打ち上がる花火が楽しめます。
You can enjoy a fishing boat parade, Yosakoi dancing, and more. In the evening, you can enjoy fireworks launched from the beach.
